Intermittent Hormone Therapy-Overview

Some experimental studies suggest a value in not continuing androgen deprivation indefinitely but rather using an intermittent approach. Find out what is known and not known and the challenges in carrying out this treatment.


The results of a randomized study have just been presented showing that intermittent therapy for men with metastatic disease results in a worse survival than men on continuous therapy. That means that men should be made aware of this new finding when discussing the treatment options with their doctor. What is still unclear is whether the same results will apply for men with non-metastatic disease.
